Idea:

Nowadays, it seems that everything has a price. We consume and exchange goods and services according to a price. What if everybody decided to consume and exchange according to their own value, according to their choices and life styles? The game offers an opportunity to adopt other perspectives on value, caricatural in a way that ironically emphasis the reality. It aims at starting a debate about consumption choices, about the daily struggle between what is valuable for an individual's comfort and interest compared to society's broader interest. 

Components:

  • Game board
  • 30 value cards in 5 different colors (6 cards of 5 different categories : Food, Transportation, Housing, Area Policies, Enjoyments))
  • 3 characters cards (environmentalist / industrialist / politician)
  • 3 character pieces

Value cards have the name of the object/service/experience written on the upper part of the card and 3 values (from 1-4) of that specific object/service/experience for the 3 characters, taking in account their stereotyped personal opinion of it, on the bottom half. Depending on which character you play you will only take in consideration the number of that character on the card.


Victory Conditions:

In this board game for  2 or 3 players, the goal is for the players be the first to achieve their personal goal which means reaching the circle at end of the 20 steps road. For the victory to be valid, the player must have played cards from every category (every color) during the game.

Set up:

All players choose one of the 3 characters randomly and put their pieces at the start of one of the 3 roads.

They shuffle the 30 cards and stack them face down on the card location on the board.

The youngest player starts the game first and draws 2 cards. Going clockwise the other players draw 2 cards as well.

Gameplay: 

On your turn you can either play a value card from your hand or exchange a card from your hand with another player. 

  • Playing a value card:  On a player's turn that player plays a card by placing it in front of him on the table. Depending on the character he is playing he will use the number on the card to move that many spaces on the road.  e.g. ''Organic Food: E-4, I-2, P-2'' If you play this card and your character is the Politician you will move 2 steps ahead.
  • Exchanging a card with another player : Without showing or telling about the card the player wants to get rid of, he  tries to convince the others to get rid of a card that is good for you for an exchange. At this moment, everybody can bluff. If you agree for an exchange you give the cards simultaneously. The player also has to consider the color of the cards for the exchnage to build a strategy. 
  • If a player stops on 1 of the 2 colored spaces on the board then an additional effect takes place: (+1 or -2. He can either choose to do one more step on his road or choose a player that will go 2 steps back.
  • If a player stops on an "eye", he can choose a player and see his cards for 5 seconds.
